Privacy Policy

• Account information: name and email address when you create an account.
• Payment information: handled by Vipps. We never store card or account numbers ourselves.
• Usage data: subscription status and which materials you have access to.
• Learning data: progress in the courses, stars, questions you answered wrong (for review), your day streak, checked-off homework and hifz (memorisation) status.
• Voice recordings: when you choose to record your recitation and send it to the teacher, the recording is stored together with the teacher’s feedback.
• Enquiries: the content of messages you send us through the contact form.
• Local settings: for example the city you chose for prayer times. This is stored only in your browser, not by us.

We process personal data to:

• give you access to courses, PDF materials and Zoom classes,
• save your progress, build your review sessions and show you how you are doing,
• let your teacher follow up your learning and give feedback on your recitation,
• manage your subscription and process payments,
• send you necessary information about the service,
• answer your enquiries.

The processing is based on the agreement between you and Mīm Senter, and on our legitimate interest in running and improving the service. You only send voice recordings when you choose to.

Many of our students are children. Children under 13 should only use the service with consent from a parent or guardian, who should create and be responsible for the account.

• Recordings of children are sent only to the teacher and are not shared with anyone else.
• The teacher sees the child’s progress in order to follow up the teaching.
• Parents and guardians can at any time ask to see, correct or delete the child’s data at post@mimsenter.no.

We use trusted providers that process data on our behalf: Firebase (Google) for sign-in and storage, Vipps for payment and sign-in, Resend for email and Cloudflare Turnstile to protect the contact form against spam.

When you play Quran recitation, the audio files are loaded from Islamic Network (cdn.islamic.network). Prayer times are loaded from AlAdhan (api.aladhan.com). These services see your IP address, as with any website, but receive no other information about you from us.

We never sell your personal data.

We keep your data for as long as you have an active account. Voice recordings are kept until you or the teacher delete them.

If you delete your account under My page, we immediately delete your profile, all learning data, your recordings and your login. Data we are legally required to keep longer (such as accounting records) is deleted when that period ends.

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• access the data we hold about you,
• have incorrect or incomplete data corrected,
• have your data deleted (“the right to be forgotten”),
• restrict or object to the processing,
• receive your data (data portability).

To exercise your rights, contact us at post@mimsenter.no. You also have the right to complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.

We use necessary cookies for sign-in and to remember choices you make, such as consent. We do not use cookies for tracking across websites.

Some settings are stored locally in your browser (for example the city for prayer times). If you install the site as an app, your browser may store files locally so pages load faster and work offline.
